What to know before using Frost Alert.
How is Frost Alert different from a standard weather app?
A standard weather app gives you access to forecasts, but you have to remember to check them. Frost Alert automatically checks the forecast for your location several times a day and warns you when frost is likely, even if you have not checked the weather. This gives you more time to protect seedlings, citrus plants, frost-sensitive plants and outdoor taps.
Do forecasts guarantee that frost will occur?
No. Frost Alert relies on the weather forecasts available at the time of each check. Like any weather forecast, an alert can change or be inaccurate. The app is an early-warning aid that checks forecasts several times a day and warns you as soon as possible when frost is likely.
How many locations can I monitor?
You can monitor up to five different locations and switch between them from the home screen.
Can I create multiple alerts for one location?
Yes. Each location can have up to three custom alerts, each with its own name and temperature.
Does Frost Alert support Celsius and Fahrenheit?
Yes. Forecasts and alert thresholds can be displayed in either Celsius or Fahrenheit, according to your preference.
Does the app contain in-app purchases?
No. Frost Alert is a paid app with a one-time purchase price. It has no subscription, no advertising and requires no additional purchase to keep receiving frost alerts.
Does the app collect my personal data?
Frost Alert does not require an account and does not build a personal profile. The address or location you enter is stored locally on your phone. It is sent temporarily and securely to our server to obtain the necessary weather forecasts from WeatherAPI.com. Your phone’s GPS location is not used. No personal data is sold, used for profiling or shared for advertising purposes.
What happens if I uninstall the app or change phones?
If you reinstall Frost Alert using the same Google Play account, you will not have to pay for the app again. Locally stored settings may be deleted and may need to be configured again. If you use a different Google Play account, the purchase will not be recognised and the app will need to be purchased again.
Does Frost Alert use my GPS location?
No. The app does not use GPS geolocation. You simply enter an address or location to monitor so that the corresponding weather forecast can be retrieved.
Is an Internet connection required?
Yes. An Internet connection is required to retrieve the latest weather forecasts and check for frost risk. Alerts are then scheduled locally on your device.
Can I temporarily disable frost notifications?
Yes. You can temporarily pause frost alerts from the app settings, for a preset duration or until a date you choose.
Does the app use a lot of battery?
No. Frost Alert only performs occasional weather checks and uses local notifications to warn you. It does not continuously track your location and does not need to remain open on screen.
Which devices support Frost Alert?
Frost Alert is available on Android phones and tablets compatible with Google Play. The app is available in French, English, Spanish, German, Italian, Dutch, Polish and Czech.
