Data we use
When you enter an address, it is sent to the application server to find its geographic coordinates and the corresponding weather forecast. The application then uses the location name, latitude and longitude to monitor frost risk.
The monitored location and the date of the latest alert are stored only on your device. The application does not access your phone’s GPS location.
Purpose and legal basis
This information is used solely to provide the requested functionality: displaying the forecast for the selected location and sending a notification when frost is forecast. Processing is necessary to provide the service requested by the user.
Service providers
Requests pass through a server hosted by OVHcloud. Weather data and location searches are supplied by WeatherAPI.com. WeatherAPI receives the location search or coordinates sent by our server, but no Frost Alert account identifier because the application has no accounts.
Retention
Weather responses may be temporarily cached on the server for 90 minutes to limit calls to the weather provider. Technical hosting logs may contain the IP address, request date and requested URL; their retention depends on the host’s technical settings and security obligations.
Data stored on the phone is removed when you replace the monitored address, clear the application’s data or uninstall the application.
Security and sharing
Communication between the application, server and weather provider uses HTTPS. No data is sold or used for advertising or profiling.
Notifications
Permission to send notifications is used solely for frost-risk alerts. You can withdraw it at any time in Android settings.
Your rights
You may request information about the processing of your data or exercise applicable rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction and objection by contacting the address above. If you are in the European Union, you may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated if the application’s operation or service providers change. The date shown at the top of this page will be updated accordingly.
